Welcome to the VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) Research Service website. This site is made available for the VAMHCS Research community to provide information to Researchers and their staff on policies, procedures, funding opportunities, and other important information.

The Research Service coordinates submissions of all VA research proposals, and is responsible for the administration of all ongoing research programs. The Research Service provides the clerical and administrative support to maintain all VA Research committees including Research and Development (R&D), Subcommittee on Research Safety (SRS), Animal Use Subcommittee, and the Human Studies Subcommittee.

The Research Service also functions as the authority for all policies, procedures, regulations, and guidelines regarding research utilizing VA patients, VA space, VA investigators, and as dictated by VA Central Office.
